OBDI, OBDII, !??!?!?! HELP

Ok, so say i want to get a computer add on for my 1gn so that i can monitor throttle %, fuel consumption, engine rpm, and such...... im not really sure what the difference in the OBDI and the OBDII systems are, any definition on either of these would be really helpful, also any recommendations on what a good quality brand for this would be???
