Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups!! Think about it, it had a 4cyl to begin with, the 318 isnt any longer than the 2.5 that was in there...

Oh and what about the guy who stuffed a 32V Northstar into the front of a GTi? Or some VW, it was in a mag, got 32mpg in the CITY

well, the difference would lie more in the fact that Chrysler has never made a FWD V8, so it would take some pretty fancy fabrication to adapt a small block to a 4 cylinder transaxle. the Northstar is already attached to a fwd transaxle, (because GM/Cadillac does make a FWD V8 ) so putting into a VW is an exercise in stuffing a big thing into a small box, not as much involved.

secondly, please make sure you have an idea of what you are talking about before you say it. we are a fairly friendly group of people on this board, but most of us are pretty knowledgable, and none of us like dumbshit... so ask questions, discuss, but dont come in here like the king of cars, because you will get owned. i dont mean for this to come off as dick-ish, just laying out the facts for you. search noxneon and see how long he was around for.

Um ok smarty (meant nicely, geesh ) havent you ever seen a V8 Conquest/Starion, or 350 in a Vega or 280Z, or 302 in a Pinto (dont go into RWD vs FWD semantics here)? And since I brought up the subject that you know nothing about, why in the world would i ask you a question? I wasnt talking about a Peon, I was talking about another Mopar (you do know what a Plymouth Horizon is, right?), that I never personally saw, but a friend knew the guy so that how I know about it. And another thing, the comment wasnt made to you or anyone else on this board, its from a t-shirt. And factory turbo cars dont do 13's stock either.

And ive been working on cars (or at least learning about them) for over 25 years which i think just about beats the average Peon owners age. Im only here to help, hopefully bringing some 'fresh' out of the box ideas and experience with 4cyls from the DSM world. I can rebuild motors in my sleep, and a tranny in under 8 hours while its in the car..

The biggest problem about people i notice is the fact that i dont use flashy stuff or 'name brand' components, id rather make the stuff myself, so they think i know nothing since i dont buy APC or WeaponR.

Yea i know itll take some time to prove myself and my ideas, but it wont be long before i will be known.

Oh, and i have some JDM EURO turn signal fluid on clearance, cheap!

what IS your experience? you yourself have personally witnessed a fwd 318 in an Omni/Horizon? or was it a friend of a buddy of a guy whose sister he knows has one? i dont believe that there is such a car in existence, and im not willing to "take your word for it". i think you got caught in a bullshit story and now your trying to save your "reputation" with all this vauge subterfuge. as i said before, it would be quite a feat of engineering to mount a FWD TRANSAXLE to a 318 sb, not to mention pretty pointless. if you had said it was converted to rwd i might not be so incredulous, but you are sticking to this fabrication pretty hard, and it seems you have painted yourself into a corner. produce me some pics, a blueprint of the engine/trans combo, a website, anything other than your word and conjecture, and i will retract anything ive said on this topic.

ok, all 4 of the cars you listed above are ALREADY RWD. i cant stress this enough, putting a V8 and transmission designed for rwd applications in a car that is ALREADY RWD is not that hard, the engine and trans combo just needs to be fit in the car physically. and also, FWD/RWD "semantics" do need to be applied here because of that. Chrysler has not designed a V8/transaxle combination (transaxle implying FWD, in case you didnt catrch that or comprehend it) making it a huge undertaking, without any guidelines to follow, to attach a 318 to ANY transaxle. not backyard shadetree mechanic is going to have the capability or facility to do this, nor would they even want to. you can get equvialent performance from a 2.2/2.5 turbo setup, and it already exists, no crazy fabrication needed.
also, i do indeed know what Plymouth Horizon is, i currently own a 1988 Dodge Omni. i have also owned an Aries wagon and a Shelby Charger.
as for the "t-shirt/13 second factory turbo car comment, i have no clue what you are talking about, so your gonna have to clarify if you want me to address that one.

so you have been working on cars since you were 6? hmmm, i thought there were child labor laws in existence to prevent that sort of thing from happening... even waaaay back in 1975 when you were born, one whole YEAR before i was born. (yeah, im 30, so the stupid "age" card thing doesnt work on me) so i guess maybe that makes me a non-typical Peon owner, since im roughly the same age as you?
if you are only here to help, then why are you making up bullshit and then getting all defensive about it? you could have done some real damage to some poor noob who will now be forever searching for the holy grail FWD V8 omni/horizon, never to find it... its sad really... maybe your brain is a little fuzzy on the details of this topic because you have been rebuilding trannys in your sleep. when i sleep i just dream, and rest my body, it keeps me sharp for situations like this one. but, i will give it to you, you probably do have more expirience fixing things than i do, being that DSM parts are manufactured from used duct tape and hope, they need lots of replacing.

You think big companies are in business to dream up this stuff? No, its starts with ONE person and an idea. Ever invent anything? Ever wanted to get that mass produced? I doubt it since duct tape is already in existance.
