SOHC sound

Anyone ever notice how awesome a SOHC Neon sounds sometimes? Where my DOHC sounds more like a wounded animal screaming through the RPMs, my SOHC with a ghetto WAI just has this warm, throaty growl. Now that gas has been cheaper I've been jumping on it more than I had been, and I've really been enjoying it.
I can recognize a SOHC by sound anymore. I heard a loud SOHC Neon downtown the other day, and totally knew what it was before I even saw it.

HAHA... wow... I dunno what to say. That might be pretty bad when you can tell what engine a "neon" has by the sound. But I guess I shoudln't say anything since well... n/m

Yeah the sohc between 3000 - 7000 rpm sounds real nice, nothing like it sounds like at idle. Sometimes I just leave it in first and let it get up to 6000 before I shift it. It spooks some of those honda shits around here......

Honestly if I could have found a deal on a set of used Konis at the time, I would have kept my SOHC car and turboed it instead of buying an ACR. It was actually cheaper for me to trade up to an ACR than to buy a set of new Konis, and at the time I was in an all-motor DOHC mindset.
Speaking of which, I will actually be wrenching on my old '98 tomorrow.

It'll be nice, I haven't seen it in a while.

Nah it's cool, just swapping out shifters between it and my blue car since the red car's current owners hate the ultra-short shifter. Ian's gonna help should be a 30 min job.
You gonna be around this weekend?

You need to come down to Cincy sometime, I've gotten numerous compliments from Honda guys on my Neons.
Though I did get a big old "Neons suck!" from some cowardly fuck driving the other way in a '99-'01 Si in Dayton last year.
