6 month insurance battle with my former insurance company after being rear-ended by an uninsured driver in my ACR. And it happened 10 minutes after being laid-off from my job. It's a total, but fuck it it's over. I have $2500, and I need to get it ready for the body shop this week.

Very excited at the prospect of driving my car again.

Maybe, but I'm not gonna count on it. It might be done in the body shop, but not sure if I will be inspected and legal yet.

Yes it most certainly does. My entire family has cancelled all of their policies with Erie Insurance over this matter (5 cars and a house).

Can you elaborate a bit more? Like why they cancelled all their policies? Erie Insurance does suck balls, but I was just wondering how they 'effed you over...

In a nutshell, Erie undervalued the car, totalled it, and refused to negotiate with me on any level. They did not grasp the concept of an ACR and the fact that it's value to someone in the know is more than the base Neon the VIN indicates ('96-'97 Neon ACR coupes have base model VINs). I mean the car stickered at almost $15k in '97, right about sticker cost on an '05 Neon. My independent insurance agent (Kathy Brackus at Insurance Center of Warren), who is involved in the car hobby, told the claims people that what I wanted for the car ($3500, or later simply a clean title) was a fair value, and her arguments were ignored. I was laughed at, threatened, and lied to about an imaginary state law they were "following" (confirmed false by both attorneys I consulted). The only reason that I did not sue was because I didn't want summer to come along and not have my car. If I knew they would have been this big of assholes, I would have sued them right off the bat. The one attorney I spoke with said he would "love to sue Erie again."

When they first started screwing me around, I told the claims guy in Columbus that if they fucked me over my entire family would cancel all of their policys. His response to that was "That's fine." They continued to fuck me, my parents and brother got pissed, and they cancelled all of their policies. All of my family's insurance was through Erie, with the exception of my Dad's Fury and Road Runner which are through Haggerty who specializes in classic vehicles. Our insurance is now currently through Progressive.

So yeah, that's the story. Will have more pics soon.

I wish I had a big tree to chain it to to try and pull that bumper out enough to get the nuts off and remove it. Not sure what I'm gonna do with all that, may have to let the body shop deal with it.

Goes into the shop Tuesday! $1900 in primer, $2300 in paint, so either way I end up ahead. Should have it back the 1st week of July.

So.... Do you guys think i should just have them do it in primer, or have them go ahead and paint it? Even though the rest of the car really needs painted too? I would just have the whole car sprayed, but I probabaly won't have the $$ for that until winter. Let me know what you guys think.
