Ok I wonder if you guys can help me. My car needs a new engine, and I wanted to know what the possibilities were for it. Its a 95 sohc and I was wondering if I can put in the same engine as a 2000+ sohc neon or quite possibly 2.0l magnum engine. thanx all input would be appreciatied.

Personally I would go with a 2.4L. Not much more hassle (if any) more than a Magnum swap and the potential to make a lot more power.

Agreed... the Magnum isn't really all it's cracked up to be, about the only thing good about it is the active intake manifold and a better flowing head. But the 2.4 DOHC has more tuneability that a magnum and higher peak power.

so what mods would I have to do in order to fit a 2.4l into it??

Basically the motor mounts are the big thing. I know you have to do some cutting and piecing-together of the accessory brakets make them fit. You have to change the injector wiring too, but that's not too big of a deal. Search the engine swap forum on neons.org for more info.

"TooManyNeons" on neons.org sells the 2.4 mounts.

sweet. the thing is, Im not to concerned about performance I just wanna drive... see my motor has lost all the compression, It barley turns over, I just havent had the time... the intake and everything should be alrightI would just be happy when I can drive again.

I wish I would have gone 2.4 vs my magnum swap.

Granted, my magnum is pretty restricted, and I got it for a steal, but other than that, 2.4 is the way to go.

I'll probably be 2.4 powered by the end of the year. :)

You can basicly swap in any 2.4/2.0 from 95-02.

03-05 will require a stand alone or 03-05 wiring/pcm/bs.

If you just want it to drive again though, I would try to fix your current sohc.

Ok well its gonna cost two grand to get the car fixed, and thats money that I dont have, Im hoping that my dad will help me out...(even tho I feel bad askin for money). So ppls wish me luck. A 2000+ sohc would fit my car??? bc Idk I saw an engine for 150 at a salvage yard but it is for a 2000+ neon.
