Not sure, I don't host it on my server anymore, it's hosted by DotEasy.com. I do know it's a Unix server, thats about it.

I had to stop hosting my 2GN.org forum b/c Zoomtown was dead under all the traffic it was getting.

Was it the uploading (768K), which made it slow, or was it a hardware issue? I'm asking because I have a computer or two that I'm interested in turning into a server using zoomtown.
I'm not very good with setting up the software, but I'm getting there.

Yeah the uploading sucked expecially at night when everyone was hitting it at once. It completely cripped my entire network in the evening. It was also partially software since I didn't set it up for that kinda traffic, it was mainly just there to host pictures and misc stuff that I wanna be able to post.

I'd go with a UNIX server, you'll be better off in the end and you'll feel better learning it which I still need to do *sigh*

I've tried to mess with redhat 9, but am getting tired of it. They make it hard even if your just trying to download and install anything. I just can't figure all of it out.

I've set up apache, mysql, php on an XP system and it all works fine. So I might go that route. All I have to do is figure out the DNS stuff, and I'll be ready to go.

Or I might just buy another hosting package from my current host. They provide 1gb of space and 150 gb's of bandwidth a month. We're currently maxed out on space, so i was either going to buy a new package or use my personal server.

yeah I'm currently working on Redhat 9 as a starter to get the idea down then once I get comfortable with it I'll make a server with it to give it a try.

right now I'm just using NoIP for my DNS addressing
