cold air intake question
do you have to relocate the battery to put a true CAI in a DOHC 1st gen? Or a short ram in front of the battery would that be affective?

No, you don't have to. An Iceman or home made 3.0 CAI work very well and you don't have to relocate the battery for them. At the same time though, relocating your battery to your trunk isn't as much work as you may think, so if you come across a CAI like a Kirk or something that does require the battery to be moved, don't worry too much about it.
