NEED TUNING HELP ON AFX COMPUTER

Post by neonrtdriver »

I was wondering if anyone knows how to tune a AFX computer? My times at the track are horrible this year.

There is nothing you can do to tune an AFX computer internally. What kind fo times are you getting with what car and mods? Maybe we can help.

Something must be wrong. There is no reason that adding those mods should make you lose almost a second. Does the car feel slower on the street?

I spin A LOT at the track.. I've tried everything I can do with the tires I have. On the street it doesn't seem major power loss saying I still beat 5.0 mustangs but definatly seems like something. Could it may need a spark increase?? May be getting to much fuel cause it does happen to backfire and blow out blue flames hehehe dunno if that's a bad thing but looks bad ass.

Spinning will slow your time down a lot......what's your 60' times? You'd be suprised the difference a nice set of tires would make.

If it backfires and stuff with those mods something is wrong. It sounds like you are getting too much fuel, but i don't know how you would change that. You could get an AFC of some sort, but I think that would be a band-aid fix. Have you tried asking on neons.org? There might be someone on there that has experience with this kinf of thing.

And with your slower 60' times, you probabaly just need to learn to launch the car better if your getting a lot of wheel spin.

Yeah I didn't think about that. How many miles since the car got a timing belt? Have you checked the car for codes? Maybe the belt could have skipped a tooth, but I've driven a DOHC Neon with a timing belt one tooth off (not mine) and you would probably know something was up.

Timing belt has been changed has not skipped or anything. I think the big thing is traction at the track (SHITY TRACK). Also even on the great launches it still spins when I hit 2nd. I have also tried babying the clutch into 2nd but takes to much time off of my et. I think I am going to try to roll off the line then get on it about 60 feet and see if the times get bettere after 60 feet. Thanks for the help.
