For as much money as a new Borla muffler, you can get a full Dynomax 2.5" catback. Personally I would go with just the Dynamax 2.5" piping (usually around $75) and the straight-through muffler of your choice.

Yeah, the dynomax is $$$ for the 2nd gen vs the first gen.

I would look for a acr or r/t catback. :)
I happen to have one that just sits around, but I never do anything to sell it. lol

No neon for garage, is a 1999 dohc like a 1995 sohc if girl drives? Or is 1998 if man drives to track r/t?

Does a 2nd gen Magnum car have a bigger exhaust compared to a standard one? I thought there were all 2.25" piping but different mufflers for the Magnums (R/T-ACR).

Anymore it seems I know more about Civics than 2nd gen Neons, and for me that's just wrong. :)

Non-Mags are 2" while Magnums are 2.25".

If you go with anything thats ment for the Magnum (just anything that has dual tips like Thermal Dual-Tip, Borla, ect...) you'll have to get a 2" > 2.25" adapter from Autozone. I personally like my Thermal but on your ES I'd suggest getting the Thermal Cat-Back system.

Is the Thermal 2.5"? It doesn't say there on the MPx site, nor on Thermal's website. If you are going to get a cat back I wouldn't waste your time with anything smaller than 2.5".

I wasn't aware that 2nd gens went down to standard 2" exhaust. ALL 1st gens had 2.25".

I THINK it is 2.5" but I'm really not sure now.

From what I've read some say that it's all 2" where others say it's 2.25" to the rear suspension then right before the suspension it narrows down to 2"... you will need an adapter though, I know that for sure.

my 2nd gen has 2.25 pipe stock. it did however neck down to 2in. at the muffler section. alot of 2nd gen were the same way. on neons.org we discussed it a few years ago and came to the conclusion the most pre-03 neons had 2.25, (except california emissions equipped cars) and most post-03 cars had 2in.

but, its sort of nebulous....

anyway, i have a Maremont Turbo II on my car, i like the way it sounds, and its inconspicuous... and extrememly inexpensive. plus it flows pretty well. got it from autozone for 19.95.

Thanks alot for the info. I was wondering what you guys think about the Vibrant Dual Exhaust as opposed to the Thermal Cat Back Exhaust. I am leaning towards the Vibrant since it is $230 cheaper. http://www.modernperformance.com/dcx/pl2000_index.shtml

Your input would be appreciated :)

Never liked the look of those at all. Can't comment on the quality.

I hear the quality is good but the tips will hang down very low and far apart. IMO, it really doesn't look good at all

$230.....wouldn't make you change your mind even if it doesn't look that good, and I do agree with you on the looks. Now If I had more money I would go with the Thermal. What would you suggest Vinny?
